REVIEWS
My friend and I signed up for this assuming we would be in a larger group, but we were pleasantly surprised that it ended up being a private lesson for the two of us. Jacquelyn was helpful, positive, and fun to chat with while we all painted. This was a great session for my to get more confident with watercolors!

Crystal Mill watercolor The Crystal Mill, an 1892 wooden powerhouse perched on an outcrop above the rushing Crystal River in Crystal, Colorado, has always inspired me. Its weathered timbers, once new, now meld seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Once used to harness the river's power, it now stands still as if waiting for a breath of wind to set it in motion again. I visited this hauntingly beautiful place in the fall of 2014 I can't help but feel a sense of awe and longing for a time

On the western slope of Colorado lies a small town called Cedaredge, Colorado my grandparents owned a small piece of property about halfway up the side of the Grand Mesa, considered the largest mesa in the world with over 300 lakes. My grandparents lived near a small lake. As a child, I have always been fascinated with insects, especially butterflies. In Cub Scouts, I became interested in entomology. I noticed a large praying mantis on a red flowering Quince bush on my Grandparent's proper

This is a portrait of my friend, Marta. The reference photo was from a family portrait that her family posed for when they were visiting their hometown in Puerto Rico. I loved the regal look she had and was inspired to try a portrait in watercolor for the first time ever. It isn?t perfect, but I think I captured her likeness. I gifted this painting to Marta. It now hangs in a gallery wall of art.. in the bathroom! And I couldn?t be more honored. It is approximately 5x7 on Arches paper with

I almost threw this away. Sometimes I have a hard time "pushing through" a painting that I am doing. I'm tempted to stop and say "this is not good, I won't finish it, it's awful". I painted the sky background a year ago and the painting just sat in a corner. One day I decided to just "play" with this piece of paper and I loved what happened! Quite often I find that I need to let my artwork just cook in a corner. Every once in a while I surprise myself!

After I had joint replacement surgery on my left thumb, my dominant hand, I still wanted to paint. I thought that I'd just play with color using my right hand to wield the brush. To my amazement, I painted with more spontaneity and with a looseness I've been trying to achieve before. Maybe I'm ambidextrous and have only just discovered it (I'm 76).

Title or Location: Twilight in Penarth
I used to live in Penarth, and find it an interesting town by the sea, with lovely shopping, eclectic coffee shops, parks, and of course the wonderful pier. I am also fascinated by the wonderful lamps in Britain and beyond, their history and intricate designs. Hence this lovely lamp, taken from its neighbours, to stand proud and alone, but with the outline of the pier behind to illustrate its context of Penarth.
